The SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars basketball team scored 72 points and restricted the visiting Martin County Knights to 59 in the Cougars non-league victory on Friday.

The Cougars now sport a 5-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Southeast Halifax for a non-league contest on Thursday, December 28. SouthWest Edgecombe will battle a Trojans team coming off a 66-55 league win over Warren County (Warrenton, NC). The Trojans record now stands at 8-0.

The Knights (4-3) will now prepare for their contest against Gates County (Gatesville, NC). The Red Barons come into the 1A Four Rivers contest with a 2-5 record.
