In Friday's league contest, the visiting Northwest Rankin Cougars basketball team scored a close 44-41 triumph over the Brandon Bulldogs.

The Cougars (14-4) will now prepare for their contest against Pearl (Pearl, MS). The Pirates go into the 7A Region 3 contest with a 4-9 record. In their last contest, Pearl was tipped by Mendenhall (Mendenhall, MS), 42-37, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Bulldogs confront the Ingomar Falcons (New Albany, MS) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, January 4. Brandon will attempt to better on its 6-5 season record.
