Berry Cardinal (Charlotte, NC) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host South Mecklenburg Sabres (Charlotte, NC), 68-65 in a league bout.

With the victory, Berry upgrades its record to 6-13 on the campaign. The Cardinal host Ardrey Kell (Charlotte, NC) to play the Knights in a 4A South Meck bout on Friday, February 2. The Knights come into the bout with a record of 14-5. Ardrey Kell won 71-53 in their recent league bout against Olympic (Charlotte, NC)

Next up, the Sabres play the Charlotte Catholic Cougars (Charlotte, NC) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 31. South Mecklenburg will attempt to upgrade on its 16-3 season record. The Cougars come into the bout with a 13-6 record after their 63-39 league win over Independence (Charlotte, NC).
