North Carolina High School Basketball - Hibriten can't hold off Freedom

January 31, 2025: Morganton, NC 28655

Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC) supporters left the game happy Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the visiting Hibriten Panthers (Lenoir, NC), 63-58 in a league match.

With the victory, Freedom advances its record to 11-8 on the year. The Patriots travel to South Caldwell (Hudson, NC) to face the Spartans in a 3A/4A Northwestern match on Tuesday, February 4. The Spartans enter the match with a record of 13-7. South Caldwell won 93-91 in their recent league match against Watauga (Boone, NC)

The Panthers now own a 12-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host Ashe County for a 3A/4A Northwestern match on Tuesday, February 4. Hibriten will face a Huskies squad coming off a 61-52 league loss to Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC). The Huskies record now stands at 9-10.
