South Charleston Black Eagles (South Charleston, WV) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Capital Cougars (Charleston, WV), 54-47 in a league bout.

With the win, South Charleston upgrades its record to 1-8 on the season. The Black Eagles host Cabell Midland (Ona, WV) to clash with the Knights in a Mountain State bout on Wednesday, January 10. The Knights go into the bout with a record of 4-5. Cabell Midland lost 40-39 in their recent non-league bout against Portsmouth West (West Portsmouth, OH)

Next up, the Cougars clash with the St. Joseph Central Irish (Huntington, WV) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Capital will attempt to upgrade on its 0-5 season record. The Irish go into the bout with a 7-4 record after their 61-46 non-league win over Rock Hill (Ironton, OH).
