In Friday's league outing, the Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) basketball squad felled the visiting Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC), by a margin of 53-40.

The Cougars (9-4) will now prepare for their outing against Watauga (Boone, NC). The Pioneers go into the 3A/4A Conference 52 outing with a 7-7 record. In their last outing, Watauga thwarted South Caldwell (Hudson, NC), 51-44, in a league outing.

The Huskies now own a 6-8 record. They play next when they host Hibriten for a 3A/4A Conference 52 outing on Tuesday, January 10. Ashe County will play a Panthers squad coming off a 75-60 league loss to Freedom (Morganton, NC). The Panthers record now stands at 7-7.
