Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Granville Central Panthers (Stem, NC) and the host Vance County Vipers (Henderson, NC), saw Granville Central's basketball squad hold off Vance County by a tally of 55-53.

With the victory, Granville Central improves its record to 9-6 on the campaign. The Panthers host Carrboro (Carrboro, NC) to play the Jaguars in a 2A/3A Conference 18 challenge on Tuesday, January 10. The Jaguars come into the challenge with a record of 2-10. Carrboro lost 84-69 in their recent league challenge against J.F. Webb (Oxford, NC)

Next up, the Vipers play the South Granville Vikings (Creedmoor, NC) in a 2A/3A Conference 18 challenge, on Tuesday, January 10. Vance County will attempt to improve on its 4-8 season record. The Vikings come into the challenge with a 9-4 record after their 73-64 non-league win over Cardinal Gibbons (Raleigh, NC).
