Texas High School Basketball - Spurger overwhelms High Island
January 6, 2023: High Island, TX 77623 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Spurger Pirates (Spurger, TX) and the host High Island Cardinals (High Island, TX), saw Spurger's basketball squad wallop High Island by a count of 58-35.
With the victory, Spurger upgrades its record to 11-10 on the campaign. The Pirates host Burkeville (Burkeville, TX) to play the Mustangs in a 1A Region IV District 28 challenge on Tuesday, January 10. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 4-15. Burkeville lost 81-30 in their recent league challenge against Brookeland (Brookeland, TX)
Next up, the Cardinals play the Goodrich Hornets (Goodrich, TX) in a 1A Region IV District 28 challenge, on Tuesday, January 10. High Island will attempt to upgrade on its 2-11 season record. The Hornets come into the challenge with a 0-18 record after their 65-33 league loss to Leggett (Leggett, TX).
