The East Bernard Brahmas (East Bernard, TX) basketball nipped the host Brazos Cougars (Wallis, TX), 31-28 in Friday's league test.

The Brahmas (13-11) will now prepare for their test against Flatonia (Flatonia, TX). The Bulldogs go into the non-league test with a 20-4 record. In their last bout, Flatonia was edged by Shiner (Shiner, TX), 48-41, in a league bout.

Next up, the Cougars clash with the Hempstead Bobcats (Hempstead, TX) in a 3A Region III District 24 bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Brazos will attempt to upgrade on its 6-10 season record. The Bobcats go into the bout with a 3-10 record after their 52-24 league loss to Danbury (Danbury, TX).
