January 6, 2023: Newport, RI 02840 The Rogers Vikings (Newport, RI) ice hockey nipped the visiting North Smithfield Northmen (North Smithfield, RI), 2-1 in Friday's league battle.
The Vikings now possess a 4-2 record. They play next when they travel to Exeter-West Greenwich for a Division 2 battle on Saturday, January 7. Rogers will play a Scarlet Knights team coming off a 5-0 league win over St. Raphael Academy (Pawtucket, RI). The Scarlet Knights record now stands at 1-2.
The Northmen (3-3) will now prepare for their battle against Lincoln (Lincoln, RI). The Lions come into the Division 2 battle with a 5-0 record. In their last battle, Lincoln nipped Cranston West (Cranston, RI), 4-2, in a league battle.
