Virginia High School Volleyball - Smithfield overwhelmed by New Kent
October 6, 2022: Smithfield, VA 23430 In Thursday's league battle, the visiting New Kent Trojans volleyball team scored a 3-0 triumph over the Smithfield Packers.
The Trojans (10-8) will now prepare for their battle against Lafayette (Williamsburg, VA). The Rams come into the Bay Rivers battle with a 1-12 record. In their last battle, Lafayette lost by Tabb (Yorktown, VA), 3-1, in a league battle.

The Lady Trojans swept the Packers of Smithfield 25-16, 25-21, 25-18 Thursday night at Smithfield High School. The Lady Trojans started the night hot, hitting .450 on 11 kills with only 2 errors in the first set and .424 on 14 kills with no errors in the second set before falling to even with 5 kills and 5 errors in the third set. Adding 21 service aces and 3 blocks, the Lady Trojans earned 53 of their 75 points for the match from their winners. A much-improved Smithfield squad fought hard, tallying 19 kills, nine aces, and 3 blocks of their own. Highlights of the match include Kaleigh Redman's 7 kills on 10 attempts with no errors for a .750 hitting efficiency and Leah Rounds' 3 kills on 7 swings for a .429 efficiency. Aubrey Hyndshaw added 11 kills on .269 hitting, while Lexi Powell, Fallon Greenawalt, and Hannah Perkins recorded 4, 3, and 2 kills respectively.
