September 1, 2022: New Kent, VA 23124 New Kent Trojans (New Kent, VA) supporters left the game in high spirits Thursday as they observed their volleyball squad top the visiting Tabb Tigers (Yorktown, VA), 3-0 in a league match.
Next up, the Trojans clash with the York Falcons (Yorktown, VA) in a Bay Rivers match, on Tuesday, September 6. New Kent will attempt to advance on its 1-1 season record. The Falcons come into the match with a 2-0 record after their 3-2 league win over Jamestown (Williamsburg, VA).
With the loss, Tabb drops to 2-5 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Smithfield (Smithfield, VA) to clash with the Packers in a Bay Rivers match on Tuesday, September 6. Match Summary
The New Kent Lady Trojans tonight swept the Tabb Tigers in straight sets 25-14, 25-15, 25-17, avenging a season-ending loss from Tabb in the 2021 Region A Semifinals. New Kent was never behind in sets one and three and only fell a point behind early in set two. The Lady Trojans' tough serving and attacks kept Tabb out of system most of the night and limited the number of swings they were able to get to 6'2 senior middle blocker Alli Pratt. New Kent recorded 30 kills to 16 errors for .114 hitting efficiency while Tabb recorded 23 kills to 21 errors for a .020 hitting efficiency. The Lady Trojans also managed 13 aces to 8 service errors while Tabb recorded only 1 ace and seven errors. New Kent also dominated the net game tallying 10 team blocks to Tabb's 2 blocks. New Kent's offense was led by Aubrey Hyndshaw's 8 kills and 5 aces and Lexi Powell's 6 kills & 4 aces, while Fallon Greenawalta and Leah Rounds tallied 5 & 4 kills respectively. The defense was led by Abby McLaughlin's 16 digs.
