California High School Volleyball - Lake Balboa College Prep Grant
October 12, 2024: Van Nuys, CA 91401 The Grant Lancers prevailed the visiting Lake Balboa College Prep Cougars volleyball squad by a final score of 2-0 in Saturday's non-league game.
Next up, the Lancers confront the Orthopaedic Vipers (Los Angeles, CA) in a non-league game, on Saturday, October 12. Grant will attempt to advance on its 24-5 season record. The Vipers enter the game with a 12-12 record after their 3-0 league win over Aspire Ollin (Huntington Park, CA).
The Cougars (4-13) will now prepare for their game against Eagle Rock (Los Angeles, CA). The Eagles enter the non-league game with a 16-14 record. In their last game, Eagle Rock gained a win over Lincoln (Los Angeles, CA), 3-0, in a league game.
Match Summary
Although Lake Balboa was close at the end, the vast majority of the Cougar's points came from Grant's errors. Once the Lancers were warmed up, their powerful front row took over game 2 made it a blowout. Only Defensive Specialist Lina Matevosyan managed to earn some points on the scoreboard for LBCP with 3 service aces in addition to her 4 digs. Opposite & Co-Captain Athena Orujyan played tough defense with 7 digs along with Captain Darla Wiltz's 5. The Cougar offense had no hitters with positive stats while the passing line was hit by 15 Grant aces.
