Fans at Saturday's non-league contest between the Grand Island Islanders (Grand Island, NE) and the host Columbus Discoverers (Columbus, NE), observed Grand Island's volleyball team top Columbus by a count of 2-0.

The Islanders (18-6) will now prepare for their contest against Burke (Omaha, NE). The Bulldogs enter the non-league contest with a 7-15 record. In their last contest, Burke notched a victory over Omaha Central (Omaha, NE), 3-1, in a league contest.

Next, the Discoverers battle the Bellevue East Chieftains (Bellevue, NE) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, October 5. Columbus will attempt to move on its 15-6 season record. The Chieftains enter the contest with a 6-13 record after their 2-1 non-league win over Elkhorn (Elkhorn, NE).
