In Saturday's non-league challenge, the visiting Columbus Discoverers volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Kearney Bearcats.

The Discoverers (14-5) will now prepare for their challenge against Blair (Blair, NE). The Bears come into the non-league challenge with a 13-9 record.

Next, the Bearcats meet the Lincoln East Spartans (Lincoln, NE) in a A District challenge, on Tuesday, October 1. Kearney will attempt to upgrade on its 8-9 season record. The Spartans come into the challenge with a 10-10 record after their 2-1 league win over Papillion-LaVista (Papillion, NE).
