The Porter Cowboys topped the visiting Mercedes Tigers basketball team by a final score of 56-48 in Tuesday's league game.

In their next game, the Cowboys face the Pace Vikings (Brownsville, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 32 game, on Friday, December 16. Porter will attempt to move on its 6-9 season record. The Vikings enter the game with a 12-6 record after their 42-31 league loss to Harlingen South (Harlingen, TX).

The Tigers (8-9) will now prepare for their battle against Lopez (Brownsville, TX). The Lobos come into the 5A Region IV District 32 battle with a 13-2 record. In their last battle, Lopez beat Veterans Memorial (Brownsville, TX), 54-53, in a league battle.
