Illinois High School Basketball - Pekin nips Metamora
December 30, 2023: Metamora, IL 61548 Fans at Saturday's league challenge between the Pekin Dragons (Pekin, IL) and the host Metamora Redbirds (Metamora, IL), saw Pekin's basketball squad hold off Metamora by a tally of 45-42.
With the victory, Pekin improves its record to 6-7 on the campaign. The Dragons host East Moline United (East Moline, IL) to play the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, January 2. The Panthers come into the challenge with a record of 14-3. East Moline United won 57-33 in their recent non-league challenge against Byron (Byron, IL)
Next up, the Redbirds play the Limestone Rockets (Bartonville, IL) in a Mid-Illini challenge, on Wednesday, January 3. Metamora will attempt to improve on its 5-12 season record. The Rockets come into the challenge with a 6-11 record after their 50-42 non-league loss to Glenwood (Chatham, IL).
