Virginia High School Basketball - Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy knocked off by New Covenant

December 9, 2022: Moneta, VA 24121

The New Covenant Gryphons basketball team scored 63 points and held the host Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys to 48 in the Gryphons non-league triumph on Friday.

The Gryphons now sport a 5-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Temple Christian for a non-league contest on Tuesday, December 13. New Covenant will battle a Crusaders team coming off a 60-39 league loss to Westover Christian Academy (Danville, VA). The Crusaders record now stands at 4-2.

The Ospreys (3-1) will now prepare for their contest against Carlisle (Axton, VA). The Chiefs enter the non-league contest with a 1-3 record. In their last contest, Carlisle was defeated by High Point Christian Academy (High Point, NC), 56-41, in a non-league contest.
