Virginia High School Basketball - Southwest Virginia Academy succumbs to New Covenant

January 6, 2023: Lynchburg, VA 24501

The New Covenant Gryphons topped the visiting Southwest Virginia Academy Conquerors basketball team by a final score of 61-45 in Friday's non-league game.

In their next game, the Gryphons face the Roanoke Catholic Celtics (Roanoke, VA) in a VISAA Division III game, on Monday, January 9. New Covenant will attempt to move on its 8-3 season record. The Celtics enter the game with a 9-4 record after their 70-58 league win over Eastern Mennonite (Harrisonburg, VA).

With the defeat, Southwest Virginia Academy moves to 7-8 on the year. The Conquerors travel to Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy (Moneta, VA) to face the Ospreys in a Virginia Christian - Southwest game on Tuesday, January 10. The Ospreys enter the game with a record of 5-3.
