The Mathews Blue Devils basketball squad (Mathews, VA), was nudged 42-36 in Monday's non-league battle with the visiting Northumberland Indians (Heathsville, VA)

With the victory, Northumberland advances its record to 6-6 on the year. The Indians host Colonial Beach (Colonial Beach, VA) to meet the Drifters in a Northern Neck battle on Tuesday, February 4. The Drifters enter the battle with a record of 14-3. Colonial Beach won 58-19 in their recent non-league battle against Surry County (Dendron, VA)

The Blue Devils now own a 5-13 record. They put it on the line next when they host King & Queen Central for a Tidewater battle on Thursday, February 6. Mathews will meet a Royal Tigers squad coming off a 50-21 non-league loss to Essex (Tappahannock, VA). The Royal Tigers record now stands at 7-9.
