North Carolina High School Softball - Douglas Byrd bounces Westover
April 2, 2026: Fayetteville, NC 28303 The Douglas Byrd Eagles softball team scored 29 runs and held the host Westover Wolverines to 17 in the Eagles league win on Thursday.
The Eagles now sport a 4-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host South View for a Eastern Sandhills 5A/6A battle on Tuesday, April 14. Douglas Byrd will confront a Tigers team coming off a 1-0 non-league loss to Harnett Central (Angier, NC). The Tigers record now stands at 9-2.
With the loss, Westover moves to 0-6 on the season. The Wolverines travel to St. Pauls (St. Pauls, NC) to confront the Bulldogs in a Eastern Sandhills 5A/6A test on Tuesday, April 14. The Bulldogs go into the test with a record of 6-8. St. Pauls won 16-11 in their recent non-league test against Red Springs (Red Springs, NC)
