Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) fans left the game pleased Tuesday as they observed their baseball squad nip the visiting Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), 5-4 in a league match.

With the triumph, Watauga advances its record to 8-5 on the season. The Pioneers travel to Hibriten (Lenoir, NC) to battle the Panthers in a non-league match on Friday, April 11. The Panthers come into the match with a record of 4-6. Hibriten won 15-8 in their recent non-league match against Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC)

The Cougars now have a 7-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host South Caldwell for a match on Friday, April 11. Alexander Central will battle a Spartans squad coming off a 13-0 league win over Freedom (Morganton, NC). The Spartans record now stands at 12-2.
