Iowa High School Softball - Independence gets by Benton
June 3, 2024: Independence, IA 50644 The Independence Mustangs (Independence, IA) softball nipped the visiting Benton Bobcats (Van Horne, IA), 10-9 in Monday's non-league bout.
The Mustangs (5-9) will now prepare for their bout against Center Point-Urbana (Center Point, IA). The Stormin' Pointers go into the non-league bout with a 6-5 record. In their last bout, Center Point-Urbana was edged by Mt. Vernon (Mt. Vernon, IA), 2-0, in a non-league bout.
The Bobcats now possess a 7-2 record. They play next when they host Vinton-Shellsburg for a WaMaC-West bout on Wednesday, June 5. Benton will confront a Vikings squad coming off a 7-3 non-league win over Beckman (Dyersville, IA). The Vikings record now stands at 5-10.
