Iowa High School Softball - Independence can't get by Benton
June 9, 2025: Van Horne, IA 52346 Benton Bobcats (Van Horne, IA) backers left the game pleased Monday as they saw their softball squad nudge the visiting Independence Mustangs (Independence, IA), 7-6 in a non-league game.
With the triumph, Benton upgrades its record to 4-5 on the year. The Bobcats travel to Vinton-Shellsburg (Vinton, IA) to play the Vikings in a WaMaC-West game on Wednesday, June 11. The Vikings enter the game with a record of 2-10. Vinton-Shellsburg lost 7-3 in their recent league game against Grinnell (Grinnell, IA)
The Mustangs now own a 2-11 record. They play next when they host Center Point-Urbana for a non-league game on Wednesday, June 11. Independence will play a Stormin' Pointers squad coming off a 6-4 non-league loss to Mt. Vernon (Mt. Vernon, IA). The Stormin' Pointers record now stands at 6-8.
