Match Summary
With the Lady Lions' 3 seniors stepping onto the court, it looked to be a lopsided victory by the home team. Our girls had just finished a fairly lengthy 4 set JV match. But our scrappy group showed their tenacity and grit, led by 8th grade co-captain Annie Gardner, who herself put in a strong performance. Though they lost the 1st set by a wide margin, the group kept their cool and got back into the match in the 2nd. After her team fell behind early, 8th grader Alliana West stepped onto the court to serve and led a run, gaining the lead 9-8! We managed to fight hard, dig the Lady Lions' hits, capitalize on their mistakes, make offensive play after play, and follow Marissa, Kimber and Paige's serving into an exciting set victory! We allowed our opponents two serving runs early in the 3rd set to put us behind, then fought back but ultimately lost the match. It was a grueling and exciting matchup, with many great plays by our maturing team, along with a few groaners and head-scratchers!
