Illinois High School Volleyball - Wilmington tips Reed-Custer
August 29, 2023: Braidwood, IL 60408 Wilmington Wildcats (Wilmington, IL) supporters left the game in high spirits Tuesday as they observed their volleyball squad hold off the host Reed-Custer Comets (Braidwood, IL), 2-1 in a league match.
Next up, the Wildcats battle the Manteno Panthers (Manteno, IL) in a Illinois Central Eight match, on Thursday, August 31. Wilmington will attempt to advance on its 7-1 season record. The Panthers come into the match with a 0-2 record after their 2-1 league loss to Peotone (Peotone, IL).
With the loss, Reed-Custer drops to 3-1 on the campaign. The Comets travel to Streator (Streator, IL) to battle the Bulldogs in a Illinois Central Eight match on Thursday, August 31. The Bulldogs come into the match with a record of 5-2. Streator won 2-1 in their recent league match against Herscher (Herscher, IL)

The Lady Cats opened up their conference play on Tuesday against Reed-Custer, winning all 3 levels in some very exciting volleyball. Varsity won in 3: 16-25, 25-14, 25-14. Rachel Smith and Reese Van Duyne both had 6 down attacks with Molly Southall right behind them adding another 5. Smith also added 8 digs, 3 aces and 2 solo blocks. Clara Smith had 10 assists for the night to go along with her 3 digs, an ace and an attack.
