Fans at Monday's non-league contest between the Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS) and the host Neshoba Central Rockets (Philadelphia, MS), observed Newton County's volleyball team top Neshoba Central by a count of 3-1.

The Cougars (23-4) will now prepare for their contest against Northeast Lauderdale (Meridian, MS). The Trojans enter the Class 4A Region 5 contest with a 6-15 record. In their last battle, Northeast Lauderdale was defeated by Newton County (Decatur, MS), 3-0, in a league battle.
