September 21, 2024: Mattoon, IL 61938 Fans at Saturday's league battle between the Mattoon Greenwave (Mattoon, IL) and the visiting Mt. Zion Braves (Mt. Zion, IL), saw Mattoon's soccer squad knock off Mt. Zion by a count of 4-2.
The Greenwave (5-4) will now prepare for their battle against Richland County (Olney, IL). The Tigers enter the non-league battle with a 4-6 record. In their last battle, Richland County by Harrisburg (Harrisburg, IL), 4-1, in a non-league battle.
Next up, the Braves battle the Charleston Trojans (Charleston, IL) in a Apollo battle, on Tuesday, September 24. Mt. Zion will attempt to upgrade on its 3-7 season record. The Trojans enter the battle with a 2-7 record after their 6-0 league loss to Effingham (Effingham, IL).
