In Tuesday's league outing, the Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA) basketball squad edged the visiting Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA), by a margin of 37-34.

The Maroon Tide (5-9) will now prepare for their outing against Auburn (Riner, VA). The Eagles go into the Mountain Empire outing with a 9-5 record. In their last outing, Auburn held off Giles (Pearisburg, VA), 76-39, in a league outing.

The Pioneers now own a 9-9 record. They play next when they host Bland County for a Mountain Empire outing on Friday, February 4. Fort Chiswell will clash with a Bears squad coming off a 45-31 league win over Grayson County (Independence, VA). The Bears record now stands at 8-10.
