In Saturday's non-league outing, the Rising Sun Shiners (Rising Sun, IN) basketball squad felled the host Southwestern Spartans (Shelbyville, IN), by a margin of 62-54.

The Shiners (9-10) will now prepare for their outing against Southwestern (Hanover, IN). The Rebels go into the Ohio River Valley outing with a 16-3 record. In their last outing, Southwestern was beaten by South Ripley (Versailles, IN), 80-72, in a league outing.

The Spartans now own a 2-16 record. They play next when they travel to Indiana School for the Deaf for a non-league outing on Tuesday, February 7. Southwestern will encounter a Deaf Hoosiers squad coming off a 56-36 non-league loss to Pioneer (Royal Center, IN). The Deaf Hoosiers record now stands at 6-11.
