The Grulla Gators basketball team (Rio Grande City, TX), was nudged 44-42 in Tuesday's league battle with the visiting Zapata Hawks (Zapata, TX)
The Hawks now possess a 5-10 record. They put it on the line next when they host Hidalgo for a 4A Region IV District 32 battle on Friday, January 13. Zapata will confront a Pirates team coming off a 36-27 league loss to Port Isabel (Port Isabel, TX). The Pirates record now stands at 8-10.
The Gators (4-11) will now prepare for their battle against Raymondville (Raymondville, TX). The Bearkats come into the 4A Region IV District 32 battle with a 12-12 record. In their last battle, Raymondville edged Jubilee Brownsville (Brownsville, TX), 51-46, in a league battle.
