Wayne County Yellow Jackets (Jesup, GA) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host New Hampstead Phoenix (Savannah, GA), 38-27 in a league bout.

With the win, Wayne County upgrades its record to 11-2 on the season. The Yellow Jackets travel to Islands (Savannah, GA) to play the Sharks in a AAAA Region 3 bout on Friday, January 13. The Sharks go into the bout with a record of 9-8. Islands won 54-30 in their recent non-league bout against St. Andrew's (Savannah, GA)

Next up, the Phoenix play the Burke County Bears (Waynesboro, GA) in a AAAA Region 3 bout, on Friday, January 13. New Hampstead will attempt to upgrade on its 8-5 season record. The Bears go into the bout with a 3-8 record after their 40-38 league loss to Wayne County (Jesup, GA).
