The Wayne County Yellow Jackets basketball team scored 35 points and held the visiting New Hampstead Phoenix to 21 in the Yellow Jackets league triumph on Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets now sport a 9-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Islands for a AAAA Region 3 contest on Friday, January 12. Wayne County will meet a Sharks team coming off a 44-28 non-league loss to St. Andrew's (Savannah, GA). The Sharks record now stands at 0-7.
The Phoenix (8-4) will now prepare for their contest against Burke County (Waynesboro, GA). The Bears enter the AAAA Region 3 contest with a 7-7 record. In their last contest, Burke County ran past Screven County (Sylvania, GA), 34-33, in a non-league contest.
