Bastrop Bears (Bastrop, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Elgin Wildcats (Elgin, TX), 52-50 in a league bout.

With the win, Bastrop upgrades its record to 7-15 on the season. The Bears host Cedar Creek (Cedar Creek, TX) to play the Eagles in a 5A Region III District 23 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 14-11. Cedar Creek lost 78-48 in their recent league bout against Georgetown (Georgetown, TX)

Next up, the Wildcats confront the Pflugerville Panthers (Pflugerville, TX) in a 5A Region III District 23 challenge, on Tuesday, January 17. Elgin will attempt to improve on its 6-18 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 9-17 record after their 50-41 league loss to Pflugerville Connally (Austin, TX).
