Klondike Cougars (Lamesa, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Sands Mustangs (Ackerly, TX), 41-33 in a league bout.

With the win, Klondike upgrades its record to 2-8 on the season. The Cougars host Dawson (Welch, TX) to clash with the Dragons in a 1A Region I District 8 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Dragons go into the bout with a record of 2-7.

Next up, the Mustangs clash with the Grady Wildcats (Lenorah, TX) in a 1A Region I District 8 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Sands will attempt to upgrade on its 7-10 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 9-5 record after their 69-23 league win over Loop (Loop, TX).
