Starkville Academy Volunteers (Starkville, MS) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Bayou Academy Colts (Cleveland, MS), 39-36 in a league bout.

With the win, Starkville Academy upgrades its record to 14-8 on the season. The Volunteers host Washington (Greenville, MS) to play the Generals in a MAIS 5A District 1 bout on Thursday, January 19. The Generals go into the bout with a record of 1-6. Washington lost 61-49 in their recent league bout against Bayou Academy (Cleveland, MS)

Next up, the Colts play the Heritage Academy Patriots (Columbus, MS) in a MAIS 5A District 1 bout, on Thursday, January 19. Bayou Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 13-11 season record. The Patriots go into the bout with a 13-5 record after their 53-35 league win over Magnolia Heights (Senatobia, MS).
