Staunton River Golden Eagles (Moneta, VA) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting William Byrd Terriers (Vinton, VA), 48-45 in a league bout.

With the victory, Staunton River upgrades its record to 3-17 on the campaign. The Golden Eagles host Northside (Roanoke, VA) to play the Vikings in a Blue Ridge bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Vikings come into the bout with a record of 8-13. Northside lost 78-40 in their recent league bout against Lord Botetourt (Daleville, VA)

Next up, the Terriers play the Franklin County Eagles (Rocky Mount, VA) in a Blue Ridge bout, on Tuesday, January 31. William Byrd will attempt to upgrade on its 2-17 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 11-8 record after their 41-31 league loss to Fleming (Roanoke, VA).
