North Carolina High School Basketball - Union Academy can't hold off North Stanly

January 30, 2024: Monroe, NC 28110

The North Stanly Comets basketball team scored 63 points and held the host Union Academy Cardinals to 61 in the Comets league triumph on Tuesday.

The Comets now sport a 14-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Gray Stone Day for a 1A/2A Yadkin Valley contest on Friday, February 2. North Stanly will battle a Knights team coming off a 71-22 league loss to Mount Pleasant (Mt. Pleasant, NC). The Knights record now stands at 1-14.

The Cardinals (3-15) will now prepare for their contest against Albemarle (Albemarle, NC). The Bulldogs enter the 1A/2A Yadkin Valley contest with a 2-16 record. In their last contest, Albemarle was nudged by South Stanly (Norwood, NC), 53-42, in a league contest.
