Progreso Red Ants (Progreso, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting IDEA Weslaco Pike (Weslaco, TX), 59-48 in a league bout.

With the victory, Progreso upgrades its record to 24-9 on the campaign. The Red Ants travel to Rio Hondo (Rio Hondo, TX) to play the Bobcats in a 3A Region IV District 32 bout on Friday, February 3. The Bobcats come into the bout with a record of 18-10. Rio Hondo won 75-41 in their recent league bout against Lyford (Lyford, TX)

Next up, the play the Lyford Bulldogs (Lyford, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 32 bout, on Monday, February 6. IDEA Weslaco Pike will attempt to upgrade on its 8-14 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 12-17 record after their 75-41 league loss to Rio Hondo (Rio Hondo, TX).
