Santa Monica Vikings (Santa Monica, CA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Peninsula Panthers (Rolling Hills Estates, CA), 53-46 in a league bout.

With the win, Santa Monica upgrades its record to 12-5 on the season. The Vikings travel to Valley Christian (Cerritos, CA) to play the Defenders in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 6. The Defenders go into the bout with a record of 10-9. Valley Christian lost 63-60 in their recent league bout against Maranatha (Pasadena, CA)

Next up, the Panthers play the Mira Costa Mustangs (Manhattan Beach, CA) in a Bay bout, on Monday, January 8. Peninsula will attempt to upgrade on its 6-10 season record. The Mustangs go into the bout with a 12-6 record after their 59-49 league loss to Culver City (Culver City, CA).
