    • North Carolina High School Basketball - Murphy nipped by Union County

    December 29, 2023: Murphy, NC 28906

    The Union County Panthers tipped the host Murphy Bulldogs basketball team by a final score of 45-41 in Friday's non-league game.

    In their next game, the Panthers face the Rabun County Wildcats (Tiger, GA) in a non-league game, on Saturday, December 30. Union County will attempt to move on its 11-2 season record. The Wildcats enter the game with a 4-9 record after their 79-55 non-league win over Hayesville (Hayesville, NC).

    With the defeat, Murphy moves to 6-3 on the year. The Bulldogs host Hiwassee Dam (Murphy, NC) to face the Eagles in a 1A Smoky Mountain game on Thursday, January 4. The Eagles enter the game with a record of 2-8. Hiwassee Dam lost 95-66 in their recent non-league game against North Buncombe (Weaverville, NC)
