In Friday's non-league contest, the visiting Northumberland Indians basketball team scored a close 72-69 win over the Mathews Blue Devils.
The Indians (1-1) will now prepare for their contest against King & Queen Central (King & Queen Court House, VA). The Royal Tigers come into the non-league contest with a 2-1 record. In their last contest, King & Queen Central edged Colonial Beach (Colonial Beach, VA), 59-55, in a non-league contest.
In their next game, the Blue Devils battle the Northampton Yellowjackets (Eastville, VA) in a non-league contest, on Monday, December 9. Mathews will attempt to better on its 1-1 season record. The Yellowjackets come into the contest with a 0-4 record after their 72-50 non-league loss to Kellam (Virginia Beach, VA).
