The Eastside Spartans (Coeburn, VA) basketball nipped the visiting J.I. Burton Black Raiders (Norton, VA), 45-38 in Friday's non-league test.
The Spartans (20-4) will now prepare for their test against Grundy (Grundy, VA). The Golden Wave go into the non-league test with a 9-13 record. In their last test, Grundy was tipped by Twin Valley (Pilgrims Knob, VA), 31-27, in a league test.
The Black Raiders now own a 13-11 record. They play next when they host Lebanon for a non-league test on Tuesday, February 21. J.I. Burton will encounter a Pioneers squad coming off a 37-17 league loss to Rural Retreat (Rural Retreat, VA). The Pioneers record now stands at 15-9.
