In Thursday's league match, the visiting Athens Hornets basketball team scored a tight 58-53 triumph over the Brownsboro Bears.
In their next game, the Hornets meet the Van Vandals (Van, TX) in a 4A Region II District 16 match, on Friday, February 3. Athens will attempt to better on its 18-10 season record. The Vandals enter the match with a 7-15 record after their 65-58 league win over Mabank (Mabank, TX).

The Eagles enter the match with a record of 26-6. Canton won 56-29 in their recent league match against Cumberland Academy (Tyler, TX)
