Chesterton Trojans (Chesterton, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Valparaiso Vikings (Valparaiso, IN), 9-3 in a league challenge.

The Trojans now own a 5-13 record. They take the field next when they travel to Merrillville for a Duneland challenge on Wednesday, May 10. Chesterton will battle a Pirates squad coming off a 14-0 league loss to Lake Central (St. John, IN). The Pirates record now stands at 1-17.

With the loss, Valparaiso falls to 4-14 on the campaign. The Vikings host Lake Central (St. John, IN) to battle the Indians in a Duneland challenge on Wednesday, May 10. The Indians enter the challenge with a record of 19-3. Lake Central won 14-0 in their recent league challenge against Merrillville (Merrillville, IN)
