High school football: Top 10 toughest playoff brackets

It is win or go home time in high school football as every state will be in the playoffs this week while Alaska and Vermont have already crowned champions. 

We are zoning in on the top 10 postseason brackets in the country and Southern California's CIF Southern Section Division 1 bracket headlines the list.

There are five MaxPreps Top 25 teams in the 10-team field led by No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana), No. 7 St. John Bosco (Bellflower), No. 9 Mission Viejo, No. 16 Orange Lutheran (Orange) and No. 23 Centennial (Corona). The quarterfinals take place Friday and all four matchups feature teams that are ranked in our expanded top 100.

The only other bracket that has at least four MaxPreps Top 25 teams is the Texas 6A Division 1 field. It features No. 3 Duncanville, No. 6 North Shore (Houston), No. 10 North Crowley (Fort Worth) and No. 19 Atascocita (Humble). The 64-team field also has four teams in our expanded top 100 in No. 40 Westlake (Austin), No. 76 Lake Travis (Austin), No. 86 Allen and No. 89 Coppell.

Georgia's AAAAAA and AAAAA brackets check in at No. 3 and No. 4.

No. 5 Carrollton and No. 12 Buford headline the state's largest classification. It also has seven teams in our expanded top 100 in No. 32 Douglas County (Douglasville), No. 47 Collins Hill (Suwanee), No. 48 Grayson (Loganville), No. 54 North Gwinnett (Suwanee), No. 95 Mill Creek (Hoschton), No. 97 Lowndes (Valdosta) and No. 100 North Cobb (Kennesaw).

No. 2 Milton is the only MaxPreps Top 25 team in the AAAAA field but it also has five schools in our expanded top 100 in No. 27 Lee County (Leesburg), No. 50 Thomas County Central (Thomasville), No. 57 Langston Hughes (Fairburn), No. 65 Roswell (Roswell) and No. 74 Gainesville. 1.
