Texas high school football: State passing, rushing and receiving yardage leaders

Damien Figueroa leads the state in rushing after back-to-back 300-yard performances.

According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, Sidney Holland of Ellison (Killeen) leads the state of Texas in passing yardage through three weeks of the season.

Holland, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound senior, has posted passing totals of 356, 416 and 341 yards. He has tossed 14 touchdown passes against just one interception while leading his team to an average of 46 points per game. Ellison is 1-2 with a pair of shootout losses despite his efforts.

Fresh off back-to-back 300-yard performances, Damian Figueroa of Tuloso-Midway (Corpus Christi) is the state's leading rusher. The 5-10, 195-pound junior piled up 359 yards and five touchdowns on the ground last week against in a 34-21 win over London, helping his team improve to 3-0. He has run for 899 yards and 13 touchdowns through three games.

The state's leading receiver is Maxwell Hendrick of Klein Cain (Houston), who hauled in nine passes for 271 yards and two TDs last week in a 52-28 victory over Klein. That brought the senior's season total to 594 yards along with five scores.
