Eagles claim Lone Star State's top spot after winning Class 6A Division II state championship.

The high school football season in Texas came to a close with the crowning of 12 more UIL state champions. DeSoto was among the winners, beating Summer Creek (Houston) in the Class 6A Division II state championship game at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium in Arlington. That victory helped propel the Eagles to the No. 1 ranking in the final MaxPreps Texas Top 25.

DeSoto senior quarterback Darius Bailey was named Offensive MVP after throwing for 281 yards and four touchdowns in the 74-14 state title win that gave the Eagles their second consecutive state crown.

Coming in at No. 2 is Class 6A Division I state champion Duncanville, which upended North Shore (Houston) 49-33. Senior LSU commit Caden Durham and Keelon Russell, a SMU pledge, led the way by combining for 519 yards and seven touchdowns as the Panthers won their second straight state title.

Aledo checks in at No. 5 after winning the Class 5A Division I state championship. The Bearcats finished with a perfect 16-0 record and scored at least 43 points in their final five victories of the postseason, including 51 in the finale.
