St. Edward shuts out No. 19 Archbishop Moeller 6-0 in huge Ohio showdown.
The top-two ranked teams in Georgia faced off on Friday in one of the season's biggest high school football games and No. 8 Buford improved to 7-0 with a 39-27 win over No. 18 Mill Creek (Hoschton). The Wolves' five-star running back
Justice Haynes had a monster night rushing for over 200 yards and two scores becoming the sixth player in Georgia state history to eclipse 7,000 yards rushing after his big performance.
The Wolves control their own destiny to claim the Region 8 title and added another quality win handing the Hawks their first loss of the season.
No. 11 Westlake (Austin, Texas) won its 47th consecutive game in a row with an impressive 29-10 road win at Dripping Springs (Texas). The Chaparrals defense forced five turnovers and it was the 46th win for Westlake by more than one score during its 47-game win streak.
No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) won its 25th game in a row with a one-sided 48-16 win over Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.). Junior quarterback
Elijah Brown accounted for three total touchdowns and is now 25-0 as a starter.
The defending Ohio Division 1 state champs St. Edward (Lakewood) got a big win beating No. 19 Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) 6-0. The Eagles defense forced a huge fumble as the Fighting Crusaders had it 2nd and goal midway through the fourth quarter. It was one of three turnovers forced by the defending state champs. There is a good chance these two Ohio powers could meet again in the Division 1 playoffs. St. Edward closes out the regular season hosting Archbishop Hoban (Akron) and Moeller hosts King (Detroit).
