Rockets emerge victorious in battle of unbeatens, St. Edward back in rankings after beating Archbishop Hoban 41-20.

Central (Miami) added another quality win to its resume over the weekend with a 42-35 victory against Columbus (Miami) in the Greater Miami Athletic Conference championship game. Ranked No. 3 in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings, the Rockets were up 35-7 at halftime and held off a late rally by the Explorers to improve to 8-0. Senior quarterback Keyone Jenkins threw for four scores and led the Miami powerhouse on a crucial 65-yard drive in the fourth quarter after Columbus cut the deficit to 35-28.

Jenkins connected with junior wideout Lawayne McCoy on a 5-yard score that ended up being the difference in the game. It was one of two touchdown receptions for McCoy. Lamar Seymore had a big night as well, hauling in seven receptions for 182 yards and two scores. Four-star defensive lineman Rueben Bain added four more sacks, giving him 17 on the season. Senior Louisville commit Stanquan Clark iced the game with a forced fumble in the final minute.

The Rockets wrap up the regular season Friday vs. Monsignor Pace (Miami).

No. 5 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) finished the regular season last week with a 75-0 win over Foothill (Henderson). In five games against in-state opponents, the Gaels have outscored the opposition 335-0. The defending 5A state champs open the postseason against Faith Lutheran (Las Vegas) on Thursday.

No. 10 North Shore (Houston) won its 21st game in a row beating Humble 56-14. The Mustangs have won their last four games without starting quarterback Kaleb Bailey, who has been out with a knee injury. Senior wide receiver David Amador has filled in under center and played well for the defending 6A Division 1 state champs. They have a huge test coming up on Thursday at Atascocita (Humble), which has won six in a row since a loss to No. 19 Katy.

No. 15 Duncanville (Texas) improved to 7-0 with a 63-0 win over Skyline (Dallas). The Panthers have won every game by double digits. Up next is rival DeSoto, which is on a six-game win streak since losing to No. 2 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore).

St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio) is the only new team to join the MaxPreps Top 25 after posting back-to-back quality wins over Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) and Archbishop Hoban (Akron). Those are the only losses on the season for both teams. The playoffs get underway this week and the defending Division 1 state champs open against Stow-Munroe Falls (Stow) on Friday.
